Boy, 11, struck and killed by a vehicle in Scarborough

An 11-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle in Scarborough on Tuesday afternoon. Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said police were called to Canongate Trail and Purcell Square, just southwest of Kennedy Rd. and Steeles Ave E., at around 3:30 p.m.The boy was later rushed to hospital in critical condition, but later died of his injuries. Douglas-Cook said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. Roads in the area have been shut down for an investigation “for an extensive period,� police said on Twitter.
