Vic Fedeli says he won´t run in race to lead Ontario PCs

The interim head of Ontario’s embattled Progressive Conservatives says he will forego his own leadership ambitions to “root out any rot� after a weekend of chaos for the party.“Our party structure is in much worse shape than we knew,� Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli bluntly told a news conference, referring to a hack attack on membership lists and possible financial irregularities, among other troubles.“Fixing this will be a massive undertaking.�With a leadership contest set for Mar. 24, Fedeli said he will no longer run so he can focus on getting the party battle-ready for the June 7 election.“It has been a chaotic time for our party,� he said of the resignations of leader Patrick Brown and party president Rick Dykstra amid allegations of sexual improprieity, which they have both denied.“A steady hand is needed at the helm.�He also called on Dykstra, who is entitled to sit on the PC party executive as past president, to “do the right thing� and resign.
