Rig count unchanged in state; down 5 nationwide The number of active rigs searching for oil and natural gas slipped by three nationwide and was unchanged in Oklahoma this week, according to Baker Hughes. The country`s rig count dipped to 936, up 35 percent from 694 one year ago. The number of rigs drilling for oil fell by five to 747, while the number of natural gas rigs grew by two to 189. In Oklahoma, the count remained at 121, up 33 percent from 91 one year ago.
