Woman charged with attempted murder charge in Etobicoke condo assault

A 34-year-old woman will appear in a Toronto court this morning to face five charges – including attempted murder – after a man and an infant were attacked at an Etobicoke condominium Wednesday.The baby remains in critical condition at the Hospital for Sick Children. The man’s injuries were minor, police said in a news release Thursday.On Wednesday, Const. David Hopkinson said the man and a 4-month-old girl were initially believed to have been stabbed in the lobby of the building at Sherway Gardens Rd. and Evans Ave, south of The Queensway, around 8:35 a.m. However, on Wednesday afternoon police clarified that the baby’s injuries were “not attributed to stab wounds.”Police said a female suspect fled the scene, but was later found and arrested.Peel paramedics said the woman was taken to a Mississauga hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.The woman’s relationship to the man and baby has not been specified by police. In Thursday’s statement, police did not release the woman’s name.
