MC loses the P-lot, damages 20 cars in drive

Chandigarh: Overzealous and ill-trained staff of the municipal corporation (MC) have damaged around 20 cars while impounding vehicles parked outside a parking lot in Sector 34 in a drive that triggered protests and came under criticism. Teams of enforcement wing of the civic body in association with the traffic police impounded around 60 vehicles parked on footpaths, vacant plots and roadside on Tuesday. The civic body, which does not have its own towing van, took services of a private recovery van, which generally is used to pull accidental vehicles, for towing away the cars to Sector 35 Community Centre and Sector 34 police station.
