THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The death toll in the Ockhi cyclone that hit the Kerala coast rose to 44 with four more bodies being recovered, even as thousands of fishermen took out a march to the Raj Bhavan on Monday. The fishermen are demanding a higher compensation package. The protest, held under the aegies of the Latin Catholic church, also wanted the Centre to declare the calamity as a national disaster and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the affected areas.
