Graft cases against women police officers on the rise

Pune: The number of bribery cases against women police officers in the city have nearly doubled since last year. While 10 such cases were registered throughout 2016, even before the end of the year, 2017 has already seen 17 cases of corruption being filed against women police officers. In stark contrast, the number of women complainants in bribery cases have considerably declined. `Gender hardly appears to matter when it comes to cases of demand and acceptance of bribes these days,` said Sandeep Diwan, superintendent of police of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Pune.
