A quarter-century ago, Senate Democrats were seized with panic in the face of sexual harassment charges, and acted quickly to get rid of them. The charges weren´t against them, but against Clarence Thomas, who had been nominated to the Supreme Court by President George H.W. Bush, and who in turn accused his Democratic opponents of conducting `a high-tech lynching.` So eager were they to get rid of this hot potato that Sen.
