SANTA CRUZ >> Santa Cruz City Manager Martín Bernal said Tuesday that a concentrated homeless encampment along the city`s river may need `some limited extension` past mid-December, while a site for a new indoor shelter is sought. Bernal, speaking at the Santa Cruz City Council meeting, urged the community`s patience and support as city officials are `treading some new ground.` As city and Santa Cruz County officials are seeking a solution to one of the local housing crisis` most visible impacts, both sides had aimed for mid-December to move the camp`s at least 70 to 80 men and women from tents to an indoor location. ......
