Theresa May will not be altering what she intended to say when she gives her speech in Florence on Friday. The febrile speculation is that Boris Johnson’s intervention in the Brexit debate has changed the situation, but in fact it tells us nothing we did not already know. Much of what Boris said in his 4,000 word Telegraph opus is a welcome corrective to the months of negative coverage about Brexit. This was generated by the noisy lobbying from the big protected city interests and some larger manufacturers.
