PSG launches centre for biomedical innovation

Coimbatore: PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research has launched a centre for biomedical innovation, a first-of-its-kind facility in the medical colleges of Tamil Nadu. The centre will aim at harnessing ideas on biomedical research into commercially-viable products. The idea of setting up the centre was mooted almost a year ago, said the dean of PSGIMS&R S Ramalingam. `We have launched the centre with five to six ideas in hand. As of now, we will be functioning at a temporary set-up in the PSG Hospital, and by January 2018, we will move to our permanent facility in the new hospital building which is about 2000sqft,` he told TOI.
