Europe´s New MDR and IVDR Have Become Law

SAFEGUARDS | Electrical & Electronics NO. 130/17 On April 5, 2017 the European Parliament approved the new Medical Devices Regulation and In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation. They entered into force on May 26. On April 5, 2017 the European Parliament decided to approve the new Medical Devices Regulation (MDR) and In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation (IVDR). The Council of European Union had already approved the regulations in early March. The final text was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on May 5 and entered into force on May 26 2017. This means that the new regulations are part of European legislation.
