Austrian research intensity expected to increase by 3.14% for 2017

Press release: 11.516-076/17 Vienna, 2017-04-20 - The Austrian gross domestic expenditure on research and experimental development (R&D) will amount to around EUR11.33 billion in 2017, which corresponds to 3.14% of the gross domestic product (GDP), according to an estimate by Statistics Austria. Therefore the research intensity will be well above the European target for 2020 of 3%, but below the national Austrian goal of 3.76%, which is also pursued for 2020. Since 2014, research intensity has been above 3%; from 2016 to 2017 a slight increase from 3.12% to 3.14% is expected. In 2017, the domestic R&D expenditures will increase by 3.8% in total, and therefore outperform the forecasted increase...
