Business briefs: PPG´s CEO takes his case to Amsterdam

Pittsburgh coatings giant PPG’s top executive took the negotiations to the Netherlands Thursday, telling reporters that a hostile bid for AkzoNobel NV could be an option. A Bloomberg news report quoted CEO Michael McGarry as saying, “We are not taking any options off the table,� after the Dutch coatings and paint company this week rejected a sweetened $24.2 billion takeover. “It was shocking that an enhanced proposal was turned down in basically a day,� Mr. McGarry said, according to the report. PPG’s first offer was $22 billion. ......
