Oil and natural gas producers paid a total of $9.7 billion in taxes and royalties to the state`s coffers, counties, and local school districts in 2016 in fiscal year 2016, according to calculations by the Texas Oil and Gas Association, down from a peak of $15.7 billion in 2014 and $13.8 billion in 2015. ......
