NATICK — Kara Toomey, 42, leafed through a pile of music sheets, before settling on “Cry to Me” by Solomon Burke. She easily belted out the song while pounding on her Yamaha upright piano, tucked into her bedroom at the Modera Natick Center. Last year, the same piano was a “thorn in (her) side.” She’s played with jazz and blues bands since she was 18 as a student at Berklee College of Music.
