The 10pm curfew will remain in place despite chaotic scenes as pubs shut and warnings from some scientists advising the Government that it may be doing more harm than good. Over the weekend, large crowds gathered in city and town centres following the new closing time, which came into force in England on Thursday in an attempt to stem the spread of coronavirus infections.
