Mixed price action continues for dollar

GBP Sterling has had a good start to the week, holding ground against the US dollar and managing some modest appreciation against the euro. July`s labour market report was released by the ONS this morning, mostly containing data up until June, but also covering July jobless claims, which rose by 94,000. The headline unemployment rate, which is reported as the average of the three months ended June, held steady at 3.9% while average weekly earnings contracted 1.1%. The figures greatly understate the damage done by Covid-19 to the UK labour market.
