SANTA CRUZ — Hang on to that extra quarter when buying a drink in a disposable cup in Santa Cruz County — at least for a few more months. On the eve of implementing a 25-cent surcharge for each disposable cup sold by cafes, restaurants and other food vendors, Santa Cruz County supervisors on Tuesday approved a delay until next year. Citing COVID-19 driven sanitation restrictions and guidelines, supervisors unanimously voted to delay implementation of the cup fee until Jan. 1, 2021.
