Ghaziabad: A wider NH-9 is good news for traffic. But the high-speed corridor connecting Delhi and Ghaziabad that is being widened into India´s first 14-lane highway is also seeing traffic violations galore. This inference can be drawn from recent challan data of Ghaziabad traffic police - of over 2.75 lakh vehicles prosecuted by the cops for road rule violations from January to October this year, some 25% were challaned on NH-9 alone, with wrong-side travel, speeding, driving without seatbelt and riding without helmet being the major offences.
