Chinese President Xi Jinping says the country would curb the spread of an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus, state television reports. `People`s lives and health should be given top priority and the spread of the outbreak should be resolutely curbed,` it quoted Xi as saying on Monday. The new coronavirus strain, first discovered in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, has caused alarm because of its connection to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which killed nearly 650 people across mainland China and Hong Kong in 2002-2003.
