Toronto police have released graphic video footage of what they call the intentional crash that killed 16-year-old Matthew Dreaver in East York last month.Police say Dreaver and a 14-year-old friend were hanging out near the corner of Woodbine Avenue and O’Connor Drive around 2 a.m. on Oct. 7 when they got into an altercation with two men in a parked SUV. Police say the men first pursued the two boys on foot, then in the SUV. Police say the driver of the SUV mounted the curb and intentionally ran over Dreaver as he fled toward a community centre near Cedarvale and Cosburn avenues. Paramedics took Dreaver to hospital, where he died.Investigators are treating the crash as a homicide. Homicide Det. Les Dunkley told the Star video of the collision was released at the request of Dreaver’s family. The security-camera footage, shows the SUV driver running over Dreaver as his friend can be seen running to a nearby sidewalk. The video appears to begin soon after Dreaver hit on a grassy area well back from the sidewalk. Soon after running over the teen, the SUV’s driver can be seen driving around a turning circle and passing by the two boys again before fleeing.Police allege the driver fled from Cedarvale and Bracebridge avenues, going westbound on Bracebridge Avenue, northbound on Woodbine Avenue, eastbound on O’Connor Drive, then eastbound on St. Clair Avenue East.Police say the SUV a dark blue or black 2007 to 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe with front or rear damage. The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male with a round face, 20 to 35 years old, and about five-foot-10 with short or balding hair. The passenger is also white, with short to balding hair with a similar height and weight to the driver.Dreaver was the 55th of 64 people killed by homicide in Toronto so far this year.
