NEW DELHI: BJP and officials at the Mumbai Raj Bhavan on Tuesday strongly defended imposition of President´s rule in Maharashtra, emphasising that the Governor made the recommendation after receiving a letter from NCP where Sharad Pawar´s party expressed its inability to produce evidence of majority support in the House. They said that BJP had also sought time but the Governor declined its plea. They maintained the central intervention was necessitated because no party could put together a majority even 18 days after the declaration of the assembly poll results....
