OSHKOSH - Mike Piva grew up on a farm outside Oshkosh, a small town about 45 miles northwest of I-80 on the southern edge of the Sandhills. After he graduated from high school, he did what lots of small-town Nebraskans do (much to the dismay of said small towns): left for college, then kept going.
