Halton police have charged a teenager after a video circulated online that shows a young man throwing a traffic sign off an Oakville highway overpass into live traffic below.In the video, a young man in a white baseball cap can be seen throwing a traffic sign reading “Right Lane Exits” onto the Queen Elizabeth Way while a voice in the background can be heard saying, “look at this f--ing dumbass.”The short clip appears to have been filmed by a second person who does not appear on screen. The video was posted on Reddit on Thursday. According to police, it was taken on Wednesday at approximately 8 p.m.Police say the sign was thrown from the Winston Churchill Blvd. overpass onto the east-bound lanes of the QEW, in Oakville.The video shows live traffic moving on the highway below. The sign landed in a grassy area that separates the merge lanes and the right lane of traffic, and did not hit anyone, police said.“Although no one was injured, this reckless criminal act was taken very seriously by the Halton Regional Police Service, and an investigation was initiated immediately,” Halton police wrote in a press release.Police arrested a male teenager on Friday and charged him with mischief under $5,000 and common nuisance.
