Asylum Waiting Times Reach Record Levels In The United Kingdom

Government data released by the United Kingdom revealed nearly 17,000 asylum seekers had been waiting for more than six months to receive a decision in June, a 58 percent increase from the year before at 10,707, according to The Independent. The figures released on Thursday detail the backlog in cases increased from 30,027 at the end of March 2019 to 31,887 at the end of June, with 16,970 of those waiting for more than six months.
