A vehicle found abandoned and set on fire in Vaughan on Saturday is the same vehicle two suspects used to flee an East York shooting Friday that killed one man and injured another, say Toronto police.Police received a flood of 911 calls on Friday around 2:15 p.m. to a lowrise residential building in East York near Wakunda Pl. and O’Connor Dr. and found 29-year-old Kevin Reddick suffering from gunshot wounds outside 90 Parma Crt.The victim, identified by family and neighbours as a young father, died from his injuries at the scene.The other male victim was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Nearby residents described the sound of gunfire as loud shots in rapid succession.Toronto police Insp. Jim Gotell told reporters Friday that the shooting was street gang-related and the two victims were targeted. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, police said in a news release Sunday that two suspects were seen exiting a Black Audi Q5 before the shooting occurred. They began to fire at Reddick and the other victim, fleeing in the same car north on Victoria Park Ave.Police seized the abandoned car for forensic examination.There have been 25 shootings in the city since Aug. 3, following the Civic Day long weekend where at least 17 people were shot in 14 incidents. Five shootings took place this weekend, including Friday’s incident. In three of them, three victims were seriously injured. One happened on Sunday afternoon near Yonge St. and Florence Ave. where a car was found riddled with bullet holes. A man walked into hospital with gunshot wounds shortly afterwards.In the other two instances, six to seven gunshots were heard, sending people running and screaming.One took place in Scarborough near Markham Rd. and Eglinton Ave. E.; the other near Shoreham Dr. and Jane St. close to York University.No one was seriously injured in either, police said, but shell casings were found nearby in both.Toronto police Chief Mark Saunders ...
