The loss of business confidence was evident in all branches of activity surveyed with the exception of trade, where a sharp recovery was recorded. In the manufacturing industry, the cyclical slowdown observed since April is mainly due to a more negative assessment of total order books and, to a lesser extent, to more negative employment prospects.
