Hong Kong was bracing for mass strikes across the city on Wednesday as the protests against a proposed extradition bill that would allow Hong Kong citizens to be sent to mainland China for criminal trials, according to The Japan Times. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam said she would move ahead by the legislation even though more than one million came out to protest the proposal over the weekend, making it the largest demonstration since Hong Kong`s handover from British to Chinese rule in 1997.
