Toronto police are investigating a video posted to social media that appears to show an unprovoked assault on Golden State Warriors fans in the downtown core following Game 5 of the NBA Finals.The 11-second video, which was posted to Twitter Monday night following the Raptors’ loss, appears to show a man wearing a black hoodie and black pants running up to and shoving or punching a man walking with his arm around another person as they cross York St. at King St. W., before running off. Both the male victim, who was wearing a Warriors jersey, and the second person are knocked to the ground in the attack.The video then shows man in the jersey get up and walk in the direction of his attacker as another man runs up to him and grabs him around the neck from behind. At this point, the video abruptly ends.The video does not show the events immediately before or after the attack. The Star attempted to contact the Twitter user who posted the video, but has not received a response. The user’s account has since been made private, although the video has been widely shared elsewhere. It is unclear when it was taken. Toronto police confirmed they are aware of the video but said they have not received a complaint. “We would encourage the individual to come forward and speak to police,” Toronto police spokesperson Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said. Sidhu said police are also investigating several separate incidents that occurred late Monday, but did not say whether they were connected to the large crowds downtown after the Raptors Game 5 loss.Those incidents include a stabbing at University Ave. and Richmond St., that left a man in hospital with life-threatening injuries and may have been connected to a fight involving a large crowd at Yonge and Gerrard Sts.Police also said a woman was arrested after a group of people were found “throwing objects and attempting to break glass” at a store in the area of Queen and Berkeley Sts. shortly after midnig ...
