The U.S. Justice Department has indicted WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange under the Espionage Act, the first time in modern U.S. history a publisher has been charged for revealing government secrets under the 1917 law, multiple media reports Thursday said. The new 18-count indictment, The Washington Post reported, charges him with unlawfully obtaining and disclosing national defense information.
