State tourism budget gets boost, Norman eyes future

Tourism is big business in Oklahoma. How big? According to the state tourism department, it´s the third largest industry in the state, and brings in hundreds of millions of dollars annually. According to VisitNorman statistics, Norman produces $258 million in annual travel spending, $74 million in annual payroll and $10.7 million in annual tax receipts. Last week, Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, who also serves as Secretary of Tourism and Branding on Gov. Kevin Stitt´s cabinet, came to speak at VisitNorman´s annual tourism luncheon.
