Role of emergency medicine highlighted

LAHORE: The Accident and Emergency Department of Mayo Hospital organized first International Emergency Medicine Conference under the patronage of King Edward Medical University, Lahore. According to a press release, emergency medicine has been established as independent specialty a couple of decades ago. Consultants working in the department provide life-saving treatment and resuscitation to critically sick patients during the Golden Hour. KEMU is the first public sector medical university to launch the emergency medicine programme in Pakistan.
