UN: Nearly 110,000 Suspected Cases Of Cholera Reported In Yemen During 2019

The United Nations said there have been nearly 110,000 cases of suspected cholera reported during 2019 in Yemen, according to The Guardian. The conflict has been ongoing for four years this month, but the UN said due to recent increased displacement has led to 190 deaths from cholera. Officials also warned almost a third of the cases reported between January and March 17th were children under five. The UN´s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said the spike was spread across six governates, including the crucial Red Sea port of Hodeidah and the Sanaa province, which is home to the capital city under control of the Houthi rebels.
