Gov. Brown supports bill creating new climate agency

Gov. Kate Brown made a brief appearance before the Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Thursday to advocate for a bill that would create a new state agency to oversee the carbon cap and trade program that lawmakers are currently debating. The Oregon Climate Authority would take over some of the programs currently run by the Department of Energy, which would be dissolved. The new agency would also oversee climate-related work that currently takes place in the Department of Environmental Quality, the Department of Administrative Services and the state´s Climate Policy Office.
