Toronto is in store for more freezing rain this afternoon after a chaotic morning commute that saw the city under the wrath of an icy rain shower and ice pellets.Environment Canada is calling for freezing rain and ice pellets to continue Wednesday. The agency said the freezing rain should transition into a gentler freezing drizzle but only later in the day. Afternoon travel is still going to be challenging, as the city deals with slick roads from earlier in the day as the freezing rain persists.“It’s going to be slippery, slushy, wet,” said Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, adding that drivers should plan for a slow rush hour home as “heavy traffic” congests the highways.The return of winter’s wrath after a couple of mild days prompted Schmidt to warn the potential of crashes on highways throughout Wednesday. He said that no fatal collisions had been reported in the morning because of the wintery conditions.The city’s roads were a mess Wednesday morning.
