COMMITTEE ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD EXAMINES THE REPORT OF JAPAN

17 January 2019 The Committee on the Rights of the Child today concluded its consideration of the combined fourth and fifth periodic report of Japan on measures taken to implement the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Introducing the report, Masato Ohtaka, Minister in Charge of United Nations Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, said that Japanese children today faced challenges such as bullying, abuse, sexual exploitation and poverty, while the rapidly ageing society and decreasing birth rate were in fact a national crisis.
