Gun Barrel City officials suspend EDC board members´ activities

Gun Barrel City Council officials on Monday approved a 60-day suspension of that town`s economic development corporation board members, effective immediately. `The first step is the suspension of all activities by the board,` Mayor David Skains said. He told city council members and members of the Gun Barrel City Economic Development Corporation board that he hoped the city could rectify decades of conflict between the EDC and council members. According to the meeting agenda, Skains asked city council to vote on a resolution regarding the EDC board activities. He cited Texas Municipal Code Chapter 501.401 for his decision.
