Jacob deGrom capped his phenomenal 2018 season with eight scoreless innings of two-hit ball, lowering his MLB-best ERA to 1.70. The National League Cy Young Award hopeful recorded his 1,000th career strikeout with his 10th K on the final out of his start, becoming the fastest Mets pitcher to reach that milestone. Sean Newcomb kept the Braves in the game with five scoreless frames, but he struggled with command and worked a high pitch count. Dominic Smith, who got the Mets on the board with an RBI single, and Michael Conforto ripped solo homers to put the game away.
