Scherzer hits 300 K`s, earns 18th win

Max Scherzer fanned Austin Dean in the seventh inning for his 300th strikeout on the season en route to his National League-leading 18th win. Scherzer became just the 17th pitcher since 1900 to accomplish the feat and the first right-hander since Curt Shilling in 2002. The Nationals ace allowed just one run while striking out 10 batters in seven innings of work. Anthony Rendon backed him early with a three-run blast off Marlins starter Jeff Brigham, who struggled with command as he issued four walks over four innings.
