Volunteers wrestle with a monstrous pile of trash at Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park on World Cleanup Day. Volunteers in 132 Chinese cities spent the weekend picking up plastic and other waste, in a worldwide effort to clean up the planet. To celebrate the 10th World Cleanup Day on September 15, 700 NGOs and other groups tackled China`s waste crisis, mobilizing more than 1 million people. It was the first time that China has participated in the event, which was launched in Estonia in 2008.
