Skynyrd picks familiar strummer to fill in

Lynyrd Skynyrd has tapped former Outlaws guitarist Hughie Thomasson to the band to fill in for the ailing Ed King. And like almost everybody in Southern rock, there`s a connection dating back to the old days. When the Outlaws used to open for Skynyrd, Thomasson used to jam with the headliners. When King left the band in 1974 and prior to the guys hiring Steven Gaines, they looked at Thomasson. He probably would have gotten the job had Outlaws manager Charlie Brusco, who also managed Skynyrd, ......
