The Moelfre inshore lifeboat had been out on exercise when they diverted to a yacht with an engine fault which was being towed by another vessel. In view of the conditions near Penmon the U.K.Coastguard at Holyhead requested that the larger Beaumaris inshore lifeboat take over the tow. The Moelfre lifeboat had placed a crew member aboard the broken down vessel whilst they escorted the two craft until the arrival of the Beaumaris lifeboat.
