HILO — Hawaii Volcanoes National Park officials expect visitors to be amazed by the changes to Kilauea’s caldera, where dozens of collapse events have quadrupled the size of Halema‘uma‘u crater and created a chasm 1,500 feet deep. But with roads impassable due to sinkholes and cracks, and water lines broken by earthquakes during the past three months, they can’t say yet when the park will reopen.
