Egypt: 5 Years Later, Rab`a Massacre Survivors Victimized

An Egyptian criminal court on June 30, 2018, sentenced 75 people to death for participation in demonstrations in Cairo´s Rab´a Square in 2013 that security forces violently dispersed. The trial involved more than 700 defendants, about half of whom are in custody. In August 2013, security forces killed at least 817 protesters supporting former President Mohamed Morsy while dispersing their Rab´a sit-in. A Human Rights Watch in-depth investigation concluded that the protesters´ killings were systematic and probably amounted to crimes against humanity. Egyptian authorities have never questioned or prosecuted any of the security force personnel who took part in the massacre. ......
