MYSURU: The Kapila river is in spate, bringing misery to tourists, farmers and residents of low-lying areas. The overflowing water cut off the national highway, and entered fields and houses in Nanjangud, causing heavy destruction on Friday. Scores of houses were inundated, standing crops on hundreds of acres were submerged, and vehicles on NH-766 were diverted after the Kapila waters submerged the stretch near Mallanamoole Mutt near Nanjangud, following heavy discharge of water from the Kabini reservoir.
