(The Star Books)

Toronto police have identified the remains of the eighth victim of alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur, and say that there’s no evidence at this time to suggest that there are more victims. The remains of Majeed Kayhan were positively identified after forensic testing, Det.-Sgt. Hank Idsinga told reporters Friday. He was the only one of the alleged eight victims of McArthur whose remains had not yet been found.Police found human remains every day of their an extensive, nine-day excavation this month at a Leaside home linked to McArthur through his landscaping work. Idsinga said that there was no evidence at this time that there are further remains to be located at any location linked to McArthur. Nothing suggests at this time that McArthur is connected to other homicides aside from the eight he is charged with, Idsinga said.McArthur, 66, is facing eight counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Kayhan, Selim Esen, Andrew Kinsman, Dean Lisowick, Soroush Mahmudi, Skandaraj Navaratnam, Abdulbasir Faizi and Kirushnakumar Kanagaratnam. The eight men all had links to Toronto’s Gay Village, and their deaths are alleged to have occurred between 2010 and 2017. The remains of seven men were found earlier this year, buried in large planters located on the same Mallory Cres. property. McArthur is due in court next week.Read more:Police found remains essentially ‘every day that we were digging’ in ravine behind home linked to Bruce McArthurAn inside look at the task, in the McArthur investigation, of excavating for human remainsBruce McArthur showed ‘minimal’ potential for violence, 2003 report concludedWendy Gillis is a Toronto-based reporter covering crime and policing.
