IPI condemns arrest of Norwegian journalist in Pakistan

The International Press Institute (IPI), a global network of editors, media executives and leading journalists, today condemned the arrest of Norwegian journalist Kadafi Zaman by the Pakistan police in Gujrat city on July 13. Kadafi Zaman, who reports for the Norwegian national public broadcasting company TV 2, was arrested while covering a demonstration in the northeastern city. According to information received by IPI, Zaman was arrested along with 38 others and charged with attempted homicide and theft of cell phones from the police.
