Brampton sex assault suspect turns himself in after video released

Police have made an arrest after releasing disturbing security video footage of a woman being attacked outside a Brampton apartment building in front of a child earlier this month.Police said the 23-year-old victim was in a convenience store in the area of Kings Cross Road and Knightsbridge Road around 7:45 p.m. on June 1.She was approached by a man who attempted to start a conversation, but she left the store on foot.The video shows a man drive up in a silver vehicle, run up behind her, and assault her as her little boy watches.The man runs back to the vehicle and drives off.Police originally released photos of a suspect, but later released video of the attack.On Tuesday, the same day the video was released, Anirudha Nayagam, 24, of Brampton turned himself in to police.He is charged with sexual assault, assault and criminal harassment.Pam Douglas is the crime reporter with the Brampton Guardian and Mississauga News.
