A month-long search for a missing 30-year-old York University graduate student has ended after her body was found in the Niagara region.Zabia Afzal was last seen on the morning of May 10, in the area of Highway 400 and Major Mackenzie Dr. Investigators later received information that she was spotted later that morning at Ashbridge’s Bay in Toronto.Shortly after 2 p.m. on June 15, York Region police said they received information from Niagara law enforcement that a body was found in the water. A post-mortem examination confirmed the remains were of Afzal.Her death isn’t considered suspicious, investigators said.The disappearance of Afzal, a longtime community activist from Vaughan, prompted a month-long search by family, friends, and both Toronto and York police. Please keep them in your prayers and please respect their need for privacy during this difficult time.”
